Books We Love

I just found this blogfest today on Rebecca Kiel's  blog! It was so awesome, I went ahead an joined so I could tell everyone about the book I love. I'm sure you all know, but for some reason, I've been dying to read it again! Here we go:

Yes, I love The Lord of the Rings. And I cannot wait for The Hobbit to come out! The trailer looks so awesome. (You could argue The Hobbit is a part of The Lord of the Rings, making it a series!)

AHAHA!!!

Anyway, I love in books, when you can't pick your favorite character because you just love them all! That's how the Lord of the Rings is for me. I read them out of order, I don't know how I understood anything because I was like 13, but after that, my reading level was ridiculous and I couldn't read anything but classics and the like.

Was anyone else able to pick a favorite from LotR? Or do you like LotR? lol.

Oh, and also, I'm going to join Rachel Harris's  Platform Building Campaign! I'm really excited, and a bit overwhelmed. Recently, with my 19 hours of school, job search and all, I've been trying to blog way more than I have in the past. I think this will be a great way to connect with everyone and I'm super excited! Just hope I can keep up! yayayay!

  1. Oh yes, it is hard picking just one character from LotR. Far easier in the hobbit (it’s Smaug ^_^).

Pretty sure they're tinkering with the Hobbit, like they did with LotR. Yes, I’m a rabid fan of not altering books so much for movies. Especially adding characters. At least they're doing it in two parts, they should've made LotR into four. The ending went too fast. At least they can't skimp on the dragon.

But the LotR book. I’ve read it a few times, watched the movies some more, and I still wanna slap Frodo for doubting Sam.

    1. LOL. Yeah, I read that Evangaline Lilly was supposed to be an Elf they just made up for The Hobbit and that made me mad! But Galadriel is there, too, and I don't remember her...or Legolas who shows up in the cast listing!

I agree about four movies. I don't think anyone thought about that then. I'm sure it's all for money purposes now, not really the story. :( Maybe I'm being too cynical!

Yes. Poor Frodo! But we have to remember that the Ring does crazy things to your mind!

    1. Aww!! Read LotR! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I'm not sure what it is about everyone, you just fall in love with them. I did. I specifically remember falling in love with passages in the Two Towers with Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli.

    1. Yes. I needed to read over 1000 pages for my reading log in Middle School, and I was like "This has a lot of pages!" Not thinking that I'd fall in love with it! haha.

      I agree!

  6. I cannot wait for the new Hobbit film, my brother is a massive Hobbit fan so I kinda caught the bug off him! Thanks for popping over to my blog, I can't wait to read more of your posts! I do have to admit I haven't read the LotR books... but they are on my to read list! (first time I tried to read them I was very young and got about 15 pages in thinking it was all about a squirrel up a tree... I got confused and stopped... shameful I know)

    1. Oh man! You have to read LotR!! LOL. No, it's not shameful! You were probably one of a million 15 year olds who only got 15 pages in!

      Thank you for stopping by!!

  10. I haven't seen any of the movies or read any of the books. I want to do both, though. Sometimes I wonder how I miss popular books and movies like these.

    1. Well, I didn't realize LotR was so popular when I began reading them, and I usually can't read anything that's popular at the moment, lol.

  12. Hi Ashley! Just hopping over to say hi! I'm afraid I am not a LotR fan. I tried. I really did, but I couldn't do it. I actually have a theory that all LotR fans read the books when they were teens or younger. Everyone I know who tried to read them as adults couldn't get into them. I guess I came too late to the party! I did enjoy the movies though and give Tolkien props for an amazing imagination. Happy campaigning!

  16. I read the first book of LOTR and part of the second one. Unfortunately, my reading momentum ran out and I drifted to younger pastures. But I'll probably revisit it one day.

  21. Hi Ashley! Stopping by to say hello, fellow campaigner from your YA group :D it's nice to meet you!

Also, have to agree, can not wait until it hits the cinema's - it's one of the films out this year I'm super excited about (there seems to be quite a good movie release planned for 2012, though, doesn't it?)

  22. I'm another YA Campaigner from your group popping by to say 'Hi!'. I'm Susan and looking forward to learning more about your writing experience. You can find a link to my writing blog (mywithershins.wordpress.com) on my Humpty Dumpty site. I am using my Humpty Dumpty identity only because I'm having real trouble posting comments using my WordPress one.

I read The Hobbit when I was about 19. I never did read the LotR trilogy, but I love the movies. Can't wait until The Hobbit comes to the big screen.
