Blogger Award!!!

Today I received a wonderful blog award from Kayeleen at Kayeleen's Creation Corner!

Yay!! Isn't it pretty? I love it! The font is so cute!

There are rules for this award are as follows:

1. Thank and link to the person who nominated me.
2. Share seven random facts about myself.
3. Pass the award along to 5 new-found blogging buddies.
4. Contact those buddies to congratulate them.

Oh, my. Seven facts. Well, I'll just tell you some things about how I wrote my first book, Cutlass. (Technically not my first, but it works! lol).

1. Barren Reed's name came from my history class - A German fighter pilot from WWI named "The Red Baron", to be exact.

My Barren

German one. haha.

2. My Elf's name Leaf Tinavin is also from history. I just took Leif Erikson's name (first person to actually come to America) and changed it to Leaf. haha. And Tinavin is just something I wrote out randomly and liked.

3. Cutlass was actually a five act play I wrote for my drama class Freshman year of High School, I immediately liked it and began writing more. It looks nothing like the play now though.

4. I did not intend for Cove to have a major role in Cutlass. He started out as a minor character, mentioned once or twice while Barren and his crew were headed to Arurm but I liked Cove. I had such an attraction to the character I decided to see where he would take me...and did he take me far. He took me to Aracrum where he was an Ambassador and where he also managed to keep a secret: a very damaging fact that he was the captain of a pirate crew.

My Cove -- Ben Barnes. hehe.

5. Kiera is a real name. It's Irish and means "dark". I did not misspell Keira. :p

6. The name of my sea "The Orient" is also something I got from history class, though it's pretty easy to get  -- Oriental means East. haha.: D

7. Barren has several names before he became Barren. Of those, one was Dominique...it just didn't fit. However, Dominique became another character who is introduced in the second book. One day, he just told me his name..and it was perfect. It was also so obvious I could have kicked myself.

Alright! And now for my five new blogger buddies!!!

Jeana Watters
Ali Cross

Sarah Allen
Deana Barnhart

Check out their blogs guys! Also, check out Lori M. Lee's blog you are the unicorn of my dreams! Follow her and enter her contest. She has some amazing prizes! :)

Also, yesterday I did something I regret. :( I have a group on facebook for my book, and well, they had this message above it that said "upgrade your group", so I did before they did it themselves...and I hate it. :/ Now I don't know what to do. Argh.

*** Also, my query is a few posts down, the revised one anyway. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love help!!! :)))

  1. I think I prefer your Barren to the Red Baron, haha.

Anyway I love it when characters take over a story :D You had one thing planned for them, and fwoooosh! Somewhere along the line s/he becomes even more amazing than you had planned. It's so awesome XD I love such characters even more after they've done something like that.

I don't understand, what was so horrible about upgrading your Facebook group...?

  2. Thanks, Ashley! And I like the idea to do the 7 facts about a book you wrote. Mind if I do that too?

  3. Sure, Jeana!

Adero - the format changed. :( It's just weird cause now there's no place for the description of the book or anything. It's weird.
