Cutlass Trilogy

Summer is here!

I had the worst history final ever. But it's over! Now I must pack and move back to my hometown for the Summer. Bittersweet! Also, as of today, I am a Senior. ugh. That means I either face the real world in May of 2012, or I go to grad school. Grad school is an option I want, but I've been discouraged from it because I just want to be a writer. I've talk to several teachers and they all say that it's a track for people who want to teach, and if you don't want to do that, you should go into it. Also, my scholarship limits my options once I enter grad school so my only options are English Education or Library Science. Library Science would be cool, but I'd have to take different undergrad classes. Oh, the difficulty! It'll work out.

I joined YALITCHAT.org  (thanks Lori!! ) so I could find a beta reader. It's kinda of intimidating so I haven't actually delved into that community yet. Still waiting. lol. I'm really excited about it though. I've had friends read my novel and they really enjoy it, but they aren't writers, and they are simply reading for fun, not to critique me...which is fine, I'm good with just reading my novel for fun. :) I found this old blog post by Miss Snark. I think we've all heard or her, :) here that talks about Beta readers.

So! I'm off to eat Ihop with Aladdin, then pack, and work on my novel and query. yay!

Ciao!

  1. Yay for summer and being done with finals! Woot :) I'm sure you did better in your history final than you think (I always second guess myself after finals too).

I keep meaning to join YALITCHAT too, I'm with you though its very intimidating for a newbie. Beta readers are great. I've had a bunch of people beta read my novel, but it's changed so much since then. Maybe once I'm feeling better about my manuscript we could swap novels or maybe sample sections? Its a bit less intimidating when you're both in the same place and I'd love to read Cutlass :)

  3. Congratulations on your transition into seniordom! :D It's true that you don't need a masters or a degree to write, but if you find inspiration there, and if you find it fun, go for it :)
    Good luck!

  4. Thank you very much, Dawn!

I do agree. I'm going to look into things in the Fall. It'll be nice to continue in school.
